It’s almost 2023 and time to start thinking about New Year’s Resolutions.

Maybe you’ve already made a list, planned how you will tackle it, and are ready to meet the new year. Maybe you’re overwhelmed by the idea of resolutions and don’t think they’re worth the trouble. Maybe you made a list, but deep down you know you won’t last past the first week of January. Maybe you want to make a list, but have no idea where to start. Well, wherever you’re at, here are six resolutions you can add to your list as you look ahead to the future.

1. Connect With Those Around You

In the digital age, there are hundreds of ways to connect with anybody from anywhere in the world. But what about the people you’re with every day — your coworkers, friends, and family members? Getting to know the people around you is important too. Don’t know how to start? Try this list of questions.

2. Go Green

Reduce your carbon footprint by finding the small ways to go green at home and at work. Using less paper and recycling cans and bottles is a good place to start. Read this story to get inspired.

3. Invest in a Hobby or Passion

We all have things we’re passionate about. Whether your hobbies involve sports, volunteering, gaming, or crafting, it’s important to pursue the things that make you happy. Plus, hobbies are often the things that differentiate you from others, be it on your resume or during an interview. Whatever your passion is — find ways to pursue it more this year.

4. Enhance Your Workspace

Whether you work from your home or in an office, your desk is probably where you spend most of your day. The new year is a great time to revamp that workspace so you can stay inspired and organized going forward. Get ideas for decorating your home office or cubicle here.

5. Volunteer

There are always ways to help others and give back to the community. Pick an organization to volunteer for and see how it goes. Volunteering opportunities are also a great item to add to your resume and a great way to get to know people with similar interests.

6. Read a New Book

Start your reading here with a long list of books on leadership. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a manager to read them — these books cover topics applicable to anyone, like self-improvement and human behavior. Find one that intrigues you, and start reading.

If you’re one of those people that makes a long list of New Year’s resolutions but has a hard time keeping them, you’re not alone. Use these practical tips to keep your New Year’s resolutions well past January. And remember, taking the little steps toward improvement makes all the difference—even if that means you just write your goals down.
