Reynolds and Reynolds is headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, with a dozen offices spread across the US, Canada, and the UK. One of these offices is tucked away in the small town of Celina, Ohio. Here, you’ll find Reynolds’ Grand Lake manufacturing plant, which prides itself on its impressive production rates and top-tier sustainability initiatives.

Since its opening in 1948, the 326,000 square foot manufacturing facility and the 75,000 square foot warehouse has serviced thousands of customers, and its 380 associates work diligently to ship a whopping 3,500 orders a day. But that’s not all they do well. From associates working in-office to those operating the warehouse, recycling efforts are a natural part of the training process at the Celina facility.

The teams working in-office support the Reynolds Document Services team in creative graphic design, helping with marketing efforts and sales, producing copy on a variety of dealership forms. Associates in the warehouse print vouchers, order forms, work orders, envelopes, rental receipts, and other business forms that keep companies running every day. Needless to say, our Celina plant uses a LOT of paper, which is why they’ve created and maintained their recycling program across the facility for several years.

In the plant, all the excess paper created during the manufacturing process is rolled into massive bales and sold to a recycling broker, who transports the bales to a recycling facility. The recycling facility then uses those bales of paper to process and transfer source-separated materials and reuse those materials – saving energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition to paper recycling efforts, the plant recycles scrap metal from old pieces of printing machinery. Of course, associates can drop their plastic Coke bottles and aluminum cans into the separate color-coded recycling containers on their lunch breaks, too.

Sounds pretty environmentally-friendly, right? Let’s crunch the numbers. In 2021, the Celina plant recycled over 1,350 tons of paper, 35 tons of plastic, 17 tons of aluminum, and 10 tons of scrap metal. By recycling those materials, it saved 9,451,400 gallons of water, 921,512 gallons of oil, and 22,953 trees.

The Celina plant continues to look for ways to help the planet by increasing its recycling capabilities and supporting the local community. For information on job openings at the Celina facility, visit the Reynolds Careers page.
