Finding the Right League for You
When you move for a job, you may struggle finding your place in a new city while simultaneously learning your new position. One of the things I tell new hires moving to Dayton is to take advantage of company-sponsored sports leagues. They can help you get to know other associates and learn more about the company and your new home.
There are many sports and activity options in Dayton, including sand volleyball, softball, soccer, cornhole, and so much more. With the social hour and free refreshments, it is easy to start interacting with different people throughout Reynolds, helping make your new surroundings feel a little more like home.
Here is background on some of the most popular leagues in Dayton:
- Sand Volleyball– Played at the outdoor sports area at Reynolds Headquarters, these games combine competitive and non-competitive energy, experienced vs. non-experienced players, and a good mixture of personalities. The rules are easy to follow and the atmosphere is laid-back, so it is a great way to meet people.
- Softball – This sport can get competitive, but it is also one of the most participated in leagues. It is just like any other softball league, same rules and regulations.
- Soccer – This league is a part of a larger association that involves other soccer teams from around the area. It’s a co-ed league that plays a normal game of soccer. It is a high-energy and exciting group of individuals who get together on a weekly basis to work out in an enjoyable way.
- Cornhole– The most casual of all of the leagues, it doesn’t even require a change of clothes. Cornhole is cornhole, two boards with small holes and six cloth bags full of corn you fling at the opposite board and try to get it to go in. It doesn’t matter if you’re good or bad; it is all about the luck of the toss.
Reynolds also has other leagues including bowling, euchre, and many more indoor activities that are all fun and a great way to meet new people. Finding your way at Reynolds and in Dayton might seem intimidating at first, but simply joining a league and interacting with other associates can help you make lasting friendships in your new home.
Note: Reynolds has similar Sports Leagues at its Houston and College Station locations.
