From everyone at Reynolds, happy Halloween! The costumes, stories, spooky television shows, and candy make Halloween one of the most fun holidays of the year! Whether you’re going to a Halloween party, passing out candy, or stopping by a friend’s house to watch spooky movies, there are a few must-have Halloween items to keep on-hand to make the day a success.

1. An Easy Costume

No matter where you find yourself on Halloween, having a quick and easy costume for yourself or a last-minute friend helps the day flow smoothly. A fake moustache, an animal ear headband, or a t-shirt that serves the purpose of a costume are all helpful if you find yourself in a crunch.

2. Plastic Shopping Bags

Whether you’re helping a child who forgot their pumpkin candy basket at home or prepared to take leftover Halloween party snacks from a friend’s house, keeping extra plastic shopping bags on hand is never a bad idea. These can be easily stored in your car just in case you need one.

3. Floss/Toothpicks

Can you feel the popcorn balls and caramel candies getting stuck between your teeth? Feel like a real superhero today by keeping some toothpicks or floss on hand. Your friends and your dentist will thank you.

4. Treats That Don’t Expire

If more kids than you expect show up for treats, or if someone at a Halloween event has an allergy to candy, having fun non-perishable items as a backup is always a great go-to. Many stores sell cheap spider rings, Halloween-themed bouncy balls, keychains, and more that you can save year-to-year for various situations.

5. A Portable Phone Charger

Communicating with friends and taking pictures can quickly wear down your phone battery. To keep the festivities alive, bring along a portable charger so you can stay out as late as you need without fear of your phone dying.

Once you’re prepared for the day, relax and have fun. At Reynolds we are getting in the spooky spirit with our on-campus credit union’s Halloween contest! Each year, the credit union wants to see which department in Reynolds can build the best display. Employees can vote for their favorite by bringing in canned goods that will be donated to a local cause. The display that brings in the most canned goods, wins!
