This article was written by Ben, a member of our team at the Dayton headquarters. Ben graduated from Wittenberg University and wanted to give readers the inside scoop on what life is like as a business analyst.

I work at Reynolds and Reynolds as a business analyst, specifically working on our internal contracting software, Deal Management Tool (DMT). My main responsibility is to gather requirements for projects that Reynolds associates would like to see on the software, then to translate those requirements for the programmers that actually execute the coding. I also test these projects before releasing them to our end users.

I take a lot of pride in my job and I really enjoy it. One of my passions is continuous improvement. I get to work on that every day in my current role. We make changes to our software all the time in order to make it more efficient and valuable to our end users.

Another great aspect of my job is bringing people together in order to get things done. I get to meet a lot of different people throughout the company and help make their processes more effective. Even if we do something small, I know the changes we make positively impact our organization.

So far in my current role, I’ve started out on smaller projects and my team has helped me get more familiar with the software and become a better leader. I look forward to leading bigger projects in the future and continuing to learn more.

I would recommend Reynolds because they have invested in me. I originally started in the sales organization. I worked hard and met great people, but I ultimately found sales was not something I wanted to do long-term. So, when I requested a transfer to development to work as a project manager, I was able to do that. Reynolds could have said no, but the company and its leaders went out of their way to make sure I was in the right position. I am very appreciative of the opportunity given to me.

There are openings available across the nation for analyst positions at Reynolds. To find them, check out reyrey.com/careers!
