‘Tis the season for a break from school to relax before the next semester begins. Do you know how you are going to celebrate?

Reynolds and Reynolds loves the holiday season. We know this time of year is made for celebrations, food, family, and fun. We host a charity bike build, where 100 bikes are built by Reynolds associates for children of local soldiers. We also host a children’s Christmas party where kids can come and meet Santa.

Once you get home and have shed the stress from the past semester, you may find yourself with some extra time on your hands. Take this time to start looking for a job or internship if you haven’t locked one down yet for the spring. Here’s what you should do:

1. Update your Resume

During winter break, take a look at your resume. See if you have done anything during the past semester you can add. Updating your resume usually won’t take more than 30 minutes, so it can be easily done between festivities or at the end of a busy day.

2. Revitalize Your LinkedIn Account

Clubs, activities, and events can all distract you from keeping your LinkedIn up-to-date. Hop on your account a few days a week during your break to share articles, post, and endorse your fellow job seekers. Having an active account makes it easier for recruiters to find you, and can help you appear more professional.

3. Search for Openings

In-between the holiday festivities, look for openings that interest you and send in your resume or application. It’s never too early to apply for a posted job or internship.

4. Reflect on the Past Year

Think of your past experiences and how they have helped shape you into a business professional. You can use those experiences when answering interview questions. Also, reflect on what you have done the past year when it comes to grades, your job search, or your interviewing techniques. Use your strengths to improve your weaknesses for the upcoming year.

Reynolds would like to wish you, and those you hold near and dear, happy holidays!
