This post was written by Randi S., business and employee management sales trainer.

When I first applied for an administrative assistant position at Reynolds, I knew two things. First, it wasn’t my ‘dream job’. Second, it was at Reynolds, a company whose values, stability, and community involvement were really appealing to me. It’s because of the latter reason I accepted the position.

Ultimately, taking that job gave me a lot of opportunities to learn about what Reynolds does and how different departments within it operate. Once I got to see various roles and the impact they had, I knew I wanted to continue to grow in my career at Reynolds.

I eventually transitioned from the administrative assistant position into a marketing role. I was fortunate enough that my position in marketing presented new challenges for me and allowed me to utilize a lot of skills I picked up in college. It also introduced me to new experiences and educated me further on dealership operations.

The process for changing roles at Reynolds is smooth. Once I decided a change would be beneficial, I reached out to my supervisor and they helped set up an interview with the other department. It was reassuring because my supervisors wanted me to enjoy my work and do what I love so they were more than willing to assist me.

After a few years, a position opened up on the sales training team. It was a great match because it allowed me to take what I had learned about Reynolds solutions previously and transfer that knowledge to our sales force. I love the role because I’m helping our sales people get better at their job; in turn, they help our dealerships succeed. It’s rewarding to be able to make that kind of impact every day. Here at Reynolds, you might start with a job but could end up with a career.
