Our recruiters wanted to give applicants ideas for words to help highlight strengths and achievements. Use action words to help your previous work experiences stand out. Find a few of our favorite action words below! All definitions were taken from Dictionary.com.

1. Achieved

To bring to a successful end; carry through; accomplish.

2. Adapted

To make suitable to requirements or conditions; adjust or modify fittingly.

3. Addressed

Skillful and expeditious management; ready skill; dispatch.

4. Analyzed

To examine carefully and in detail so as to identify causes, key factors, possible results, etc.

5. Assessed

To estimate or judge the value, character, etc., of; evaluate.

6. Balanced

Being in harmonious or proper arrangement or adjustment, proportion, etc.

7. Coordinated

To place or arrange in proper order or position.

8. Devised

To contrive, plan, or elaborate; invent from existing principles or ideas.

9. Directed

Guided, regulated, or managed.

10. Improved

To bring into a more desirable or excellent condition.

11. Maintained

To keep in an appropriate condition, operation, or force; keep unimpaired.

12. Operated

To perform some process of work or treatment.

13. Organized

14. Prepared

Properly expectant, organized, or equipped; ready.

15. Represented

To serve to express, designate, stand for, or denote, as a word, symbol, or the like does.

16. Supported

Highlight your previous experiences and strengths by using words that make them relevant to the job position. For example, if you’re applying for a sales position, use your previous experiences to highlight your people-skills and communication abilities.
