Hammering Hope: Reynolds and Habitat for Humanity Unite
At Reynolds, we understand the importance of serving and supporting our local communities. For many, the best way to help others is with our hands – which is why Reynolds loves to give back by partnering with Habitat for Humanity.
A global nonprofit, Habitat for Humanity strives to combat poverty and the housing crisis by assisting families with newly built homes. Volunteers join these new homeowners to construct the homes from the ground up.
In 1956, Reynolds’ Dayton employees established the Associate Foundation to pool donations and collaborate on volunteer efforts. It is the longest-standing associate-run charitable foundation in the United States and has since branched out to include Reynolds locations in Texas.
The Associate Foundation has proudly made a tradition of building homes together, hosting annual Habitat for Humanity volunteer opportunities at our Dayton, Houston, and College Station locations. If you’ve ever noticed a hammer-wielding crowd on campus wearing matching t-shirts, you spotted a Reynolds Habitat for Humanity Parking Lot Build!
In 2024, Dayton celebrated 10 years of building houses with Habitat by constructing their 19th and 20th homes, with Houston hosting their second build in the same year alongside associates from College Station.
Reynolds’ involvement isn’t just about building homes; it’s about building community. Not only are we given the rare chance to help someone else out, but we also are encouraged to come together and create something new and lasting.
“We can’t do anything without local partnerships and the community coming alongside us to support our work,” said David Mauch, development director for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton.
You don’t have to be a Reynolds associate to help your community – look into the Habitat location closest to you and consider changing a life with nothing but your own hands and a hammer.
