COVID-19 has changed the way many companies recruit new associates. With in-person recruiting events and career fairs no longer happening, things look different for the Reynolds recruiting department. Kristin D., Reynolds recruiting manager, offers some insight into how the company has adapted.

ā€œCOVID-19 hasnā€™t slowed recruiting but we have had to get creative. Throughout this time, we have continued hiring and on-boarding new associates through remote processes,ā€ Kristin said.

In-person events, such as career fairs and information sessions have been put on hold for the time being, but that hasnā€™t stopped the recruiting process.Ā  Like many others, these events have gone virtual.Ā  Attendance has been excellent and weā€™ve been able to connect with and hire great people through them.

Reynolds recruiting and hiring managers maintain a professional interview process while conducting them from their homes via video calls.Ā  Other interactions that were previously in-person, like job shadows, are now done through video conferencing as well.

What does it look like when a new associate is hired?

Many departments within Reynolds are giving new associates the option to begin work in-office or remotely. Emma, a new associate, began working in the marketing communications department in-office in June. ā€œThere are many guidelines in place to keep associates safe in the office, including wearing masks and social distancing. I choose to work in-office because I like having a routine and a place to go to get work done. Everybody is looking out for each otherā€™s safety, so I feel comfortable in the office,ā€ she said.

Reynolds also welcomed summer interns as we have in the past with some being remote and some in the office. Interns attended a virtual orientation and had opportunities to meet with small groups over Zoom calls. Reynolds remained committed to delivering the best internship experience possible and made adjustments to ensure a successful summer for our students.

The pandemic has certainly changed the recruiting process, but Reynolds continues to find creative ways to hire great people.
