On October 10th, 2018, the Callahan clock moved into its new home atop the Brethen Tower at Carillon Park. You may be wondering, “What can a clock possibly have to do with work-life at Reynolds?”  But the history of our company and the Callahan clock are intertwined.

The Dayton-famous, cobalt blue clock tower found its original home atop the Callahan Bank Building in 1920. As years ticked by, the clock sported names of building tenants at its Main and Third street location; however, in 1978, the tower made its trip to a new home at Reynolds and Reynolds downtown headquarters.

While at Reynolds, the clock simply read, “Since 1866.” Reynolds, understanding the proud history of the clock and its local significance, took this opportunity to focus on its own history as a staple of Dayton. The clock tower read “Since 1866” until the new Reynolds building was built in 2006.

Here at Reynolds, we’re proud the history of Dayton is tied to our own.

Like the clock, Reynolds has been synonymous with life in Dayton. Our storied history as a successful company is widely known, but it’s our impact on the community that we’re most proud of.

Reynolds associates take pride in their home, and as such, do what they can to improve it. That’s why we encourage and provide service opportunities. It’s why we have an associate foundation that donates to local charities. Our goal is to be a community leader, and for the last 150-plus years, we’ve been able to achieve that goal.

As the Callahan clock now stands tall atop its tower at Carillon Park, the city of Dayton will once again be able to see the famous clock over I-75. Likewise, Reynolds is standing tall in its hometown, where it will continue to be a living piece of Dayton history and an active participant in, and for, its community.
