Navigating Your Way Into the Workforce
This blog was written by Jane, who interned in Reynolds and Reynolds’ marketing department over the summer.
When I began looking for a summer internship, I started at my school’s fall career fair. I spoke with recruiters from Reynolds and Reynolds who directed me to apply for the internship program on their website.
After I submitted my application, a recruiter reached out to discuss the first steps in their process, which included a test. These simple, multiple choice questions ensured Reynolds and Reynolds was a good fit for me and helped the recruiting team decide which department I was best suited for. This video does a great job of explaining the testing process.
Since I was still attending classes during this process, the recruiting department was very accommodating and allowed for phone and Skype interviews in place of in-person interviews. To prepare, I made sure I understood the job I was applying for, and I read a lot about the history of Reynolds on their website and their blog. This really helped during the interview process, and I was eventually offered an internship position on the marketing communications team.
Once on the job, I was given a poster with 10 ways to gain respect. It helped me, and I’m hoping it can help you too. I would recommend hanging it on your office wall for easy reference.
