Dayton STEM Workforce Program to Show Students Local Career Opportunities

When students think of corporate jobs, they often think of skyscrapers in big cities such as New York or Atlanta. What many students in Dayton may not realize is the breadth of job opportunities right in their backyard. Opportunities are here.
The Dayton STEM-Workforce Program is committed to showing students their options for the future and providing them with the tools necessary to succeed in the area. âMany kids want to get out [of Dayton] because they donât know whatâs here,â explained Ron Adler, vice president of Dayton STEM at a recent event. To show them these career opportunities firsthand, STEM took students to The Reynolds and Reynolds Company.
Reynolds was founded in Dayton in 1866 as a business forms printer, which means the company and associates have been part of the community for 150 years. Today, the company is a leading provider of software, business documents, and professional services for automotive retailers. Its vision is to help car dealers work smarter and improve the customer experience with the dealership.
The company currently employs more than 1,200 associates locally and a total of 4,300 associates worldwide. Reynolds aims to match the right talent with the right position and offer a setting where associates can continue to learn and develop in their careers.
Reynolds sets high standards for its employees and looks for professionals who are willing to put their skills and talents into practice for roles at the company. Itâs todayâs students and young professionals, like those participating in the STEM program and focusing on education and growth, who will become the next generation of computer scientists, information technology specialists, marketing professionals, and organizational leaders. Well-rounded students with college degrees will be essential for fueling growth at companies like Reynolds and in their communities.
In addition, Reynoldsâ recruiting department has developed a strong college internship program that can help students determine whether Reynolds, or corporate life in general, is a good fit for them. The program allows students to explore a variety of career options. Each year, Reynolds hosts more than 100 interns across the company who will gain real-world work experience, while collaborating on projects that contribute to the success of the business.
And remember: Dayton is home to many opportunities for graduating students ready to start their careers. The perfect position could be right here in your backyard. It could be at Reynolds.
