The words “automotive,” “car,” or “dealership,” can easily ignite a passion in some, while others are turned off. However, being in automotive doesn’t mean you have to know how to fix a car. The automotive industry is the same as any other, except they provide both products and services to their customers. There are many perks to working in the automotive industry, such as:

1. It’s long history provides job security.

When applying for a job, you want to know your future industry or role has job security. Since the late 1800’s cars have been on the streets and driving people around the world into the future. By choosing automotive, you know you’ll be investing your time into a lasting career.

2. New adventures every day.

New federal or state laws, standards, or rules within different car brands always provide new adventures for the automotive world. Since Reynolds and Reynolds works to supply car dealerships with the most innovative technology, we have to move with the laws and also set the standard for new technologies as we go. There are never two days exactly the same when working in this industry.

3. Evolving technology.

If you’re looking to work in an industry with eyes constantly on the future, you’ve found one. Between new safety features, self-driving vehicles, and driving assistance technology, there’s always something new in automotive. At Reynolds, we are also constantly updating and creating new technologies to help automotive dealers give their customers the best retail experience possible.

4. There’s a diverse customer base.

The automotive industry exists worldwide, but even in the United States alone you’ll be able to work with a diverse customer base. The cultures, history, and individuals at each dealership provide for a unique work environment that has endless opportunities.

5. You could travel for work.

Going hand-in-hand with the diverse customer base is opportunities to travel. Depending on what role you play, you could travel across the nation to meet customers or help install our solutions. No matter what you travel for, there’s also time for fun and adventure after the workday is done.

6. Automotive knowledge applies to daily life.

You may not own a dealership, but it’s likely you have a car or will own one in the near future. By understanding dealerships and their processes and struggles, you will have a better idea of how to take care of your own vehicle. For example, did you know that by getting your car repaired at a dealership, you will receive parts endorsed by the OEM? Or that those technicians will be specialized and certified to work on your car brand? By understanding their financing processes, you can even learn how to get the best deal for your next vehicle.

Working in automotive means working in one of the largest industries in the world. There are perks, opportunities, and unique challenges that are only experienced by automotive. If you join this industry, you’ll know your work is relevant to current events and the latest innovations.
