At Reynolds, one of the things we pride ourselves on is our dedication to promoting from within. This philosophy stems from a belief that training the people in our organization and helping them grow here will pay dividends for ourselves and our customers.

That philosophy, along with robust training opportunities, beautiful facilities, and plenty of unique perks has helped our company develop a strong referral program, where current employees are proud and excited to endorse people for positions within the company. So much so that 1 in 4 people hired at Reynolds are referrals.

With that in mind, we sat down with an employee who had three referrals join Reynolds in the last year. We talked about what it is Reynolds offers that made her look to bring in people she knew and why she thought they would be a good fit for the company.

Interviewer: You’ve had 3 referrals hired in the last 12 months, but how long have you been working at Reynolds?

Rachel: I’ve been here for around 18 months. I started in July after graduating from Miami University.

Interviewer: Wow, that’s a lot of referrals in a fairly short amount of time. What led you to refer them? Why did you think they would be a good fit for the company?

Rachel: Well, one was a good friend I grew up with and the others were people I knew from college. I thought they would be a good fit with the company because I really believe anyone could be a good fit here. There are so many different roles for all types of people. Creative types, structured workers, introverts, extroverts, people that like work-life balance – there’s a place for everyone here and I knew that each of them would have opportunities with the company that they probably couldn’t get somewhere else.

Interviewer: Did they reach out to you to be referred?

Rachel: Yeah, they all reached out to me! They had each heard me talk about the company and how excited I was to work here. They wanted to see if there were open positions.

Interviewer: Is there a reason you were so excited to start at Reynolds and talk about it with friends?

Rachel: I was excited about the career path I was starting down. In college I knew I wanted to go into marketing so I was glad to be working in a role that would give me some real world experience in the area I wanted to be in, but I was also excited to start at a big company where I knew I could make new connections and new friends. And that’s not just at work, but in all of the extra-curricular activities I knew Reynolds offered. Things like the sports leagues and volunteer opportunities. I had heard a lot of good things about Reynolds’ culture and I was ready to be a part of it.

Interviewer: It seems like you feel pretty comfortable referring other people to come work here. It doesn’t sound like you worry they may not like working for the company or won’t find a place here.

Rachel: I have friends who aren’t so positive about the places they work, but when people talk about Reynolds, it’s almost always in a good light. There are so many opportunities to meet great people at and outside of work and there are so many perks to working here. Even little things like the convenience store, the cafeteria, and the gym. I had no problem referring people because I knew they’d be just as impressed as I am with the company and all it offers.
